We stayed 1 night at a hotel at the Airport called the "Nikko Hotel"
The next day we took an express train and went from Osaka to a city called Kyoto. Our Grandma (we call her Baaba which is what you call your Grandma in Japanese ) met us in Kyoto and we went sightseeing. Here is a photo of me and Emily in Kyoto in a place called "Arashiyama" with my Grandmother and two Japanese Ladies wearing old Kimono's.... these ladies are called Maiko.
There is a big Bamboo forest in Arashiyama, and here is a photo mum took of me in front of it...
We also went on a train called the TOROKKO Train to see all the Autumn leaves. This part of Japan is famous because of all the beautiful colours of the leaves on the trees. We were a little bit early to see all the colourful trees. The trees will be more colourful in about 2 weeks. But we saw a little bit of colour on the trees. It was a very cool train and it took about 50 minutes.
In the afternoon, we all went to a very special place in Kyoto called the "KinKakuji"
The Kinkakuji is a very old building and has real gold on it. It was built 611 years ago !
Most of this building burned down in a fire and was rebuilt in 1955 which is still 53 years ago... that is even before my Mum and Dad were born...
Here is a photo of me and Emily with Baaba in front of the Kinkakuji ...
... and here is a close up of the building, it is very sparkly...
There were lots of shops at this place selling different things. This shop in the picture below was selling "Omamori". The things called Omamori are for good lick and you buy them so that you will have good luck in your life. So that your family will have good health... or so you will have good friends or pass your tests at school... or if you want to be rich etc... There are many different kinds of Omamori.
I will put some more photos and maybe a video up here soon....
Hope you are having fun !
from Mitchell.
